… and that’s just what they did with a little help from the legs of Jez and Laura.
Today, we headed out into the wild unknown of cliff walking. We decided upon a circular hike from Gorran Haven to Dodman Point and back, with the promise of some amazing views of the rugged Cornish Coast line on route. Our boots needed the exercise of this strenuous walk,
Indeed, the views were stunning and the sun burning hot. Smart cookies, we had drinks and mints to keep us going. The strategically placed benches on the way out to the point gave us chance to refresh as well as take in the vistas. The steep ascents and descents made for a varying pace walk and our boots were truly put through a work out.
The route back to Gorran Haven was more inland and rural taking in the delicious hamlet of Penare and woodland trails. Not as hard going as the way out but a beautiful way to wind down the leg muscles a little before reclimbing a few steps to the Coast Path Café for a fabulous tea, with the traditional cream tea. Yeah, we messed up and did it wrong- crap we will have to have another one on the way home.
The last climb of the day back to base, and an evening of combating sunburn and few hands of cribbage.
